BLLEERRGGHH

Well we have all heard the term, fallen off the wagon, however in my world my wagon has crashed and burned BIG TIME.
Yes I managed to finish the 10km run at the Marlborough Marathon  a little over 2 weeks ago, but since then every bad and obnoxious habit I have had has come back with a vengeance. Boy do I feel like SHIT.
There is no one to blame but ME. Fat,lazy Wendy has come out to play and boy does she need to get back in her box.
During the recent 20 week challenge I did amazing things, lost 13kg, began running, entered a running event and finished. Not to mention felt like a normal person for the first time in a long time.
Well since the end of the challenge I must have set a new record. I have gained 6kg, could barely run 1km today and feel like death that has not even been warmed up yet. In a nutshell I feel BLERGH.
So I need to rebuild the wagon, get back on track, seize the day, kick fat into touch so on and so forth. Hence I come to you setting new goals.

GOAL ONE:               Compete in the Run to Remember on 22/2/14
GOAL TWO:              No alcohol for 26 weeks
GOAL THREE:           STOP eating sugar and other shit food
GOAL FOUR:             Run the Sydney Half Marathon on 18/5/14 (YEP GARY I SAID IT OUT LOUD) or if that does not work the Melbourne Half in August 2014. However finish a 1/2 Marathon in 2014 is the goal
GOAL FIVE:               Travel to Europe in July 2014 with my son Benjamin and be 30kg lighter than I am today, at the bare minimum.
GOAL SIX:                  Stop trying to kill myself with an unhealthy lifestyle then beat myself up about it.

There you have it, who else has got some BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) they would like to share? Also I am looking for a running buddy, I am super big and super slow (10.00 min/km) but willing to shuffle round Hagley or other areas with any others who may want to get onto this running wagon.

Accountability is key

Hi All,
I really have been a slack blogger, but hey sometimes life gets in the way. I have learnt a few things about myself lately and am here to share. Hopefully they may help you too. I recently completed the Catch Fitness 20 week challenge, with the amazing Cate Grace as my trainer.

My end results were phenomenal (even if I may say so myself). I lost 12 kg and 123cm overall off my body measurements. Not to mention that I can run 4 km without stopping and cut 2/3 of my Albert tce stair climb, went skiing and have even started biking a bit.

BUT, yes there is a big BUT (as well as a big BUTT)I have fallen off the wagon, I let the end of the 20 week challenge be a line in the sand and began to slip back into my old habits. Why? I hear you ask, well I do not know. I have learnt one thing from the challenge and that is I need to be accountable to be successful.

So here is my plan moving forward, between now and Christmas I plan to shed another 10kg, I will do thins by doing the following:
* Keeping a food diary religiously. I am doing this at www.myfitnesspal.com.
* All workouts will be logged on www.mapmyrun.com
* I will do circuit with Leapstar mates 1 x per week.
* I will run 3 x per week * One PT session per week
* Cut out refined sugars and too much gluten. Adopt a "Clean" style of eating and major reduction in processed foods.
* Other days will have at least one activity of physical movement/exertion eg: Swim, bike etc
* engage more with the fabulous crew of Leapstars who supported and motivated me through the 20 weeks challenge.

I have a few events in mind they are:
* Pegasus 5.5km run
* Marlborough 10km run - 27th October
* Ocean Swim classic, at least one 1 km race this year (when I can fit into a wetsuit :-/)
* Alcatraz is still on the agenda, just may be in 2015???

So there you have it. If you see me slacking off, feel free to comment and get my butt back on track.
 Cheers

It is wet in here

Well after a 3 month hiatus from the pool, i made my way back to Pioneer Pool this afternoon to take a dip.
I gingerly go in  the water thinking 2 or three laps and I am done as I am in such an awful physical state. Oh my golly gosh, I got in the water donned my cap and goggles and proceeded to swim 500 metres (20 laps) freestyle without stopping, YAYAYAYAYAY. I then did some kick board with fins and pool jogging as well as another 200 freestyle with fins. Yes it is wet in here, but I feel frightfully at home where it is wet, so you will be seeing in the pool a lot more now.

Before hitting the pool today I did the shopping and headed over to Lyttelton for the Farmers Market, as a healthy eating and reduction in sugar and processed food is on the agenda during the 20 week challenge and beyond. Loaded up on kale, spinach  beans, apples, chicken stock, coconut oil and flakes all part of my new healthy eating regime. So if anyone has tips on how to use and cook Kale please share with me.
For those of you on the 20 week challenge following this blog, maybe we can plan a Saturday excursion to Lyttelton Farmers markets as  part of the lifestyle challenge, what do you think??

Resurrection

Hi All,
Yep I crashed and burned of the wagon crazy big time. No apologies no excuses......just crashed and burned.
However I really do figure if I don't get my s*** together in a hurry I will be dead before I am 50 and that is not far for anyone, especially me, LOL.
I have signed up (for the 3rd time, with 2 previous drop outs under my belt) for the 20 week challenge and with Cate Grace and her Leap angels I am determined to be a winner in more ways than one. I have joined the tribe at Leap2it and by doing this have 50 others spurring me on and keeping me honest.
Yes one day I will do the Alcatraz swim, just not this year. My goal is somewhat tamer for this 20 week challenge. It is to be able to walk into a shop that is not PLUS SIZE and be able to try on clothes that fit and even......make a purchase.
This may seem a bit lame but given I have not set foot in a shop for larger ladies in, oh about, 16 years this is a real feat for me.
So if you can stand it, jump on board and follow the journey and watch my competitive streak come out........I HOPE, LOL.
Here's to busting that funk.

Hitting the open water

Just a quick check is from the shores of Whangerei Harbour.  Have travelled up here for a family wedding.
On the way from Auckland we stopped at Goat Island,  and I hit the open water for the first time in a long time.  I am beginning to think I am not open water material.
it was hard work,  but at least I got wet,  tomorrow morning I only have to take a few steps and I can swim in the warm waters of the blue heron holiday park. will check in then

What a Slack Biatch!!!!!!!

Where the hell have you been????
I can hear you asking that.............or is that me asking myself.
I have been a slacker,  I have been a lazy cow, I have been busy (LOL), I have reverted back to my old shitty habits BIG TIME.
If I did not come here then I did not have to be accountable. Oh well here I am back again being accountable, and feeling like a psychic cause I knew I would crash and burn off the wagon. However I am going to do something I have not done for many years. A new year resolution list:
1) Get back in the frigging water - minimum 3 x week swimming. A great mate Nicky will be meeting me on Mon, Wed, Fri mornings at 6am at Pioneer pool, starting 7th January. I however will be in the pool before then.
2) Stop eating that white sugar stuff - Yes I am going to go back on my sugar free diet as espoused by David Gillespie in "Sweet Poison"
3) Drink less wine - I cannot quiet bring myself to promise a alcohol free year, however I am seriously considering it.
4) Take care of myself, sleep better, meditate, surround myself with GOOD people.
5) Get over my fear of the ocean and sailing on it, so I can begin to prepare to sail offshore in the future with my amazing husband.

So there you have it, there have been some great and not so great changes since I last signed in:
NOT SO GREAT (UGLY) - I was 123.3 kg when I stepped on the scales the other day....disgusting :-(

GREAT - I am beginning a new job on the 14th January 2013. My title is "Manager - information & supportive care services" New Zealand Cancer Society - Canterbury West Coast.

So as you can see some big and audacious goals and changes ahead, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Where the F*** are you?

I am still here just a blip in progress. I have fallen hard and heavy off the wagon after 3 months of sugar free I have started with all my worst habits all over again.
At least I am consistent and regularly fall of the wagon. I have avoided writing because I feel like I am a real disappointment.
So keep watching I will keep on plugging along and don't you give up because I am a little distracted right now.
Love ya
